Addiction to gambling is a form of mental disorder in which the gambler cannot stop him from gambling even if he wants to. Gambling is what they think and want to do. They are not able to stop even if it is hurting them or their loved ones. They are not able to resist betting and just want to gamble even if they know that they won't win. Gambling leads to financial problems at home. A gambler can do anything in order to satisfy his craving for betting.
Though addiction to gambling does not have any physical signs but you can identify it through certain signs. The person acts strangely and defends himself when someone says that he is addicted to gambling. He starts lying to his friends and family regarding the expenses incurred and demands complete control over the finance of the house. The person becomes extremely desperate for money to gamble and even sells his belongings. A gambler regularly visits the casinos, gambling parties and even gambles online. He keeps gambling without stopping in any case whether huge loss or win even if he does not have money for other activities like paying bills then also he would gamble till last dollar in his pocket. He borrows money from his friends and takes. If the person feels the need to be secretive about gambling then he may have gambling addiction. All of these signs are the indicators than the person is suffering from gambling.
The more a person is addicted the more he has the tendency to resist. He is not ready to admit that he is addicted to gambling. He may start blackmailing others by all the means he has either physical or emotional. In emotional blackmailing he may tell the other person that all that he is doing is for him and would ask to give him more money to gamble. The person who gambles, on loosing he may steel or sell his belongings to gamble again. He is of the belief that gambling more money is the only way out of this vicious circle which is not correct. This puts the individual and his family members into a deep hole with no way out.
